Today's Blog Simplified

As I go for a tumbling pass I always have height in the back of my head and other thoughts that flippers have. As I feel the excitement of the moment the power of the moment as my quad stretches while doing a round off. I'm anticipating in my head what's gonna happen as soon as I stop feeling the stretch in my quad and start to feel the soft ground come in contact with my ankles of steel. As soon as the round off transforms into momentum I'm pulling with my abdominals along with my lats upward while flexing my calfs and staying hollow in order to get maximum height than once my front eyes cant see my front feet I either arch my back to do a layout, full, arabian etc or push it foward making my knees come to my chest for a standard tuck backflip. If your not getting enough height with your flips do more to get more height with your flips. If someone can get enough height to do a standing double backflip (Aaron Cook) you can do a pretty decent backflip. "It's not whether you think it's possible it's who makes it possible." - Henry Ford

Get More Height

If your not getting the height needed your not spending enough time getting the height needed. If you don't have enough money your not spending enough time getting money. Treat today's information like you would a meeting with your boss. Schedule your life. Make it happen because it wont happen for you. Life doesn't have a remote control you have to get up and change it yourself. If you don't schedule it it wont happen.

How?

When it comes to flips different flips require different speed + agility. Using your arms to swing while doing a frontflip is a good idea especially for height. When you feet hit the ground in front of you your center of gravity should be slightly behind you. (Think standing about a foot away from the wall and lean back to the wall.) That is your ideal take off position, so that once your feet leave the ground, your center of gravity is directly above you toes on take off. To gain what is called Artificial Height simply pull up your knees 30 centimeters from your head (Remember to spread them so you won’t get a knee in your face). This will increase the length from your body to the ground, without actually jumping higher. You can also create a more energetic and powerful jump, by swinging your arms. This is just for the frontflip and this adivice is not about working about but about technique.

Whats really cool about are body is that it's adaptable. If you keep stimulating the body correctly you'll get things from that stimulus like a better vertical. It's not hard to get a better vertical. A better frontflip. A better brain. You just gots to trains!

Really How?

If your technique for your flips are spot on and you cant seem to get anymore height than spend more time getting more height. You can spend time doing these exercises. Back Squats – 5×6-10 @ 75-85%Lunges – 3×8-12 on each legRomanian Deadlifts – 3×8-12Reverse Hyperextensions – 3×12-15 and continue to get strength gains from these over the course of 2 months and once you've got more power in your muscles you can start using it in your flips. To keep muscle strength given that you've trained your body's muscles for 3 months all you have to do is a full body workout 1x a week to maintain your gains that you got from those three months. A full body workout with high volume and only 4-5 sets is all you need! Why a full body routine? If you wan't the best symmetry in the body and not have muscle in one place far more than the other than work your five major muscle groups equipment or no equipment. Work your back, abs, legs, arms, and chest. When you do a full body routine you get best muscular growth as opposed to one muscle group and your lymphatic system rushes to all the areas in your body as opposed to one muscle group. The lymphatic system flushes toxins out of the body and getting this stimulated can lead to greater fat loss than if you didn't have this beautiful system working in the body.

Seriously for flipping whats worked with me is primarily technique, training fast twitch muscle fibers a.k.a hiit training a.k.a. a.k.a. High Intensity Interval Training. Consistency, calisthenics, recovery tactics, plymetric training, and overall being a superhuman doing superhuman things. I take walks everyday and lift heavy things because it's what are DNA wants us to do. I train my calfs two times a week and the first week I started training calfs I had a higher backflip!

I live a integrated life where I have a kettlebell in my workspace, pullup bar, barbell, and my own brain which I challenge by telling it to warm up my body throughout the day like I'll drop and do some exercise or I'll tumble one two ten real quick outside. All this helps me stay in a hunter and gathers mode. When your sedentary it has anabolic negative effects on your whole body. Hunter and gathers mode increases your focus and you have less stress contrary to fight or flight mode. You have less stress because we evolved having low level physical activity throughout the whole day and occasionally we'd need to sprint or lift heavy things.

Go to https://imodstyle.com/vertical-jump-training/2/ and you'll increase your vertical jump which does compound into your flips. Though I believe that you must master your technique which is specialized to you first and foremost.
